For this post I bothered Döj, founder of Flops Ego (website), after (as he phrased it) my “random band follow” on Twitter. Band is currently a trio. The names of the other members are to remain anonymous until he gets the proper clearance to release that information. It is top secret (as he said).
Q: What do you do (band related)?
I sing and play guitar. I’m also the designated clairvoyant in the band. Very necessary.
Q: How did you end up in a band and how/why was it formed?
The same way you ended up doing what you do. The universe kind of just pointed me in this direction. I was drawn to music. I can’t explain it very well but it just feels right. Nothing matches it.
Q: Do you and other band members have an agenda? What is it that you want to achieve with your band?
Flops Ego is another way of saying “Ego death” which relates to my endless quest to shed my ego. It is, after all, an illusion. Nothing is separate.
Q: What kind of feedback do you (your band) usually get?
We usually get decent feedback I guess. I always notice a change in how people look at me from before they saw me live and after. It’s kind of odd actually. People can be creepy.
Q: You told me that you write the lyrics. Are they personal and represent something? Or just something you came up with from the top of your head?
Great question. They are very personal but quite vague. I just try to focus on melodies and cadence and hooks. I know what the song means no matter if the lyrics do not hint at that.
Q: What is your most successful song so far and why you think it’s that song?
Tron. It is just so fun and catchy I think. I do believe our new stuff will completely trump it though.
Q: What is the funniest thing that happened while you were rehearsing?
I was abducted by aliens.
Q: Anything you want to add?
A cheeseburger.
