VIP Interview #1 : John Sennett

And I’m back to the interviews! did anyone miss them? No?… Well yeah probably none of you reads this blog from the very beginning and I can’t hold that against you.

Anyway, for a new start of my blogging series VIP Interviews, I decided to question a person who I consider to be my friend. He’s also a volunteering celebrity and a holder of the Guinness world record. I am talking about our favourite baldie and all-around awesome person John Sennett!

Let’s see what I found out.

JRTV.pngQ: You used to be a volunteer. Can you share the story how and why you became a volunteer also why did you decide to turn the page on volunteering?

Volunteering wasn’t a decision I took lightly, but as I was unhappy with my career prospects, I decided to start from scratch and volunteering seemed the most sensible way to try new things.

I instantly found an organisation online who helped disabled adults become active in the local community, and I saw this a great opportunity to use my sporting background to do good.

Q: Why is your current goal in life and blogging?

To continue making a difference by sharing my life stories.

Q: How would you describe yourself to a stranger? What are the things that make you, you?

My lack of hair certainly makes me, me. But I would say my warm, yet passionate nature. I always stand by my thoughts, so I tend to be quite a chatterbox.

Q: How do you motivate yourself when you’re down?

I either put my headphones in and zone out or I think about what I’ve achieved so far and use that to get my motivation back.

Q: What is your best and worst memory as a volunteer?

Oooo! My best was definitely achieving a world record. It was an event I created, but I had to use all of my previous volunteering roles to make it a success.

My worst memory is a tough one. I think any opportunity I was used for my time. That was always a no-no in my book.

Q: What is your biggest achievement so far and what is the thing you are most proud of?

I’ve admitted above about the world record, but I would also say creating John’s Road to Volunteering. It’s gone from strength to strength and has become a world-leading blog for the voluntary sector, and volunteering made this happen.Prikazan je element IMG_20151217_142624.jpg

Q: You’re an influencer. What does one need in order to be heard?

Believe, believe, believe. Once you believe, you’ll delivery your actions in the way you want.

Q: You worked with many people. What are the best traits a person can have?

The best trait for me is being true to themselves. Being honest with yourself reflects on how others will respond to your actions.

Q: In your opinion who are the “good people”?

Volunteers. Volunteers are the heart and soul of today’s society and I want to thank them for all their incredible work.

Q: What is the one thing that you’d like everyone to know and remember?

My blog’s John’s Road to Volunteering. Don’t forget 🙂
