Motivational speech in a nutshell

Before I officially start this post I’d like to establish few things. I am a person who’s driven by logic, so all of my responses towards emotional problems, are purely reflective of what I think is the most logical thing to say. That’s why I’m often called an asshole, heartless prick, a hater and so on.

I’m not particularly bothered with people who call me that because there are many more people who actually found my logic driven responses helpful to them. Okay, okay this is not a post so I could gloat about how many people I helped, or to make you think that I’m a nice person, because I’m not. I’m just an out-of-the-box opinion giver.

The point of my babble is that I’m not really motivational, or at least I’m not trying to be I just say what I think. If you find it helpful, great, if not, well that’s your problem.

So why would I who’s clearly an idiot when it comes to emotions and motivation, want to write a blog post about the motivational speech? I’m not a leader, I don’t have to motivate anyone, I have no obligation to try and lift someone’s spirit. Nor I know you, so there’s no reason for me to try and help you, I’m not even saying that I could help or anything.

I’m writing it simply because I believe that can. Does that sound opposing to logic? Well, it’s not opposing with my logic. Because if I wouldn’t try it how would I know that I can’t? Basically, I like to try to do everything that I’m interested in or what seems to be useful, only because no one proved me that I can’t. And as a scientist in training, I like to try things more than once, just to make sure that I really can’t. So after I fail at least 10 times of trying something in a different way, I give up on it or lose interest, or sometimes try another 10 times.

That said I don’t often give up on things, I mostly just change my mind about them, change them or lose interest before completing them. That’s probably the reason why I don’t appreciate people who just flat out give up without even trying to think of another way. I admit I complain a lot of how I can’t do something or how it just won’t work. But those are just complaints, something to help me get the frustration out of my system. None of my complaints mean that I’m willing to give up.

Neither should you.

True, I don’t know you. I know nothing about you or your struggles, but I do know one thing. You can do what you want but only if you don’t give up on it. There’s nothing wrong with changing your path, or the way how you do things. There’s nothing wrong with trying out stuff, just to see what fits. It’s also okay to just do nothing for a moment and collect your thoughts. As long as you won’t give up on yourself.

If you do give up on yourself you’re a loser. You’re supposed to be your number one cheerleader, don’t just give up on yourself. That makes no sense. It’s completely against human nature. You have to strive to be a winner, to be someone, to do something. It doesn’t matter how big or small, as long as you’re there you can change the world.

So go out there, reach your dreams. No matter how young or old you are, there’s always time, therefore, a chance to try again.

  1. I too lose interest in a lot of things that I start. I do what I feel is right for me at that particular time and although it may appear that I’m ‘giving up’ I’ve just moved onto something bigger and better. We all have our contribution to make to society somehow.

  2. That’s very well said for a person who claims to not give good advice. I think we need honest people like you in the world. It’s a good message, don’t give up and as Dory would say it, just keep swimming.

  3. I loved reading this post. I don’t think anyone’s empathy quotient should be judged on the basis of how they present stuff. I am glad you care enough yo write this. It’s quite motivating. Loved the ” Be your biggest cheerleader” quote👍👍👍

  4. This was kind of hard to hear, being as I’m an emotional person and have always suffered from depression. One thing I can say is that I have never let that stop me. Even at my worst, I still woke up every morning put on my big girl panties and went to work. But not everyone can take harsh words and snap out of it, but like you said that’s who you are 😊

  5. I completely agree with the statement that you are never too old to achieve your dreams. My older sister graduated with her BA at almost 40 because it was what she wanted to do. So many people said she was too old to go back to school, but she did it.

  6. I’m not sure how I feel about this, really. It’s all true, sure, but as a person with a somewhat softer sense of emotion, this is a little bit of a hardass approach for me. Then again, there’s something to be said for the art of tough love, as well. Hmm. Food for thought, I guess.

    1. People told me before that my approach is harsh, but I can’t help it XD
However, I’m glad you’re accepting it. Some people think I’m trying to be mean 🤔

  7. If you don’t try, you’ll never know… that has been my motto for years and I’ve tried a lot of different paths. Nobody would ever call me out for failing because I would make it my mission to prove them wrong. Probably like you, I change paths because I get bored with the one I’m on and enjoy “the road least traveled.”

    1. Thank you for your comment. People always give me weird looks when I tell them that “I don’t know what I want to be”, it’s mainly because I have too many things I want to try out, so giving an exact answer is impossible.

  8. Thanks for sharing – another really interesting piece from you. I really enjoy your articles. The last piece about Simon was great and this one is of the same standard. Very motivational. Good work.
