Band Wagon with Kyshera

Kyshera Logo white on blackThis time I managed to get an interview from Kyshera! Yes, you read that right. I was extremely excited when I got an offer that they are willing to give me an interview! I talked with James, so lets see what he has to say.

Q: On your site I noticed that you released your first album in 2010. What was going on before that? How did the band come to existence and when?

The band was around for a little while before that, but we were mostly just finding our sound and doing lots of gigs! The band, as it is now, really started in 2010.

Q: Is there an interesting story that you might want to share about your journey to release the first album?

Well actually, our first album was the easiest to make! It was all done in 3 weeks and released with no drama’s at all! Our second album was a different story altogether! We had to sue the Record Company that was meant to be putting the album out and I ended up suffering from exhaustion while making the record and fainting and stuff! Our 3rd album ‘Circle’ was also a drama, in that our Drummer decided to leave the band half way through making the album. So by comparison, our 1st album ‘Paradigm’ was a joy!

Q: What’s the story behind naming your band “Kyshera”?

Well before the band became a ‘Band’, it was kind of a solo project that I started and the very 1st demo didn’t have anyone else playing on it, just me, so I called it ‘Kennedy’ (my surname). Some of the songs started to get played on mainstream Radio & attract interest from labels and the Press, so shortly after I got an email from Nigel Kennedy’s Management (he’s a Classical Violinist from the UK) saying that he goes by the name of ‘Kennedy’ and that if I didn’t change the name, they would pursue legal action. So I basically invented a new word that didn’t exist anywhere else and gave the band it’s own unique name. So Kyshera doesn’t ‘mean’ anything – it only means our band, and thats the way we like it!

Q: So far you released 3 albums. Would you mind to tell me what inspired that last album, is there a special meaning to it?

Yeah, totally! ‘Circle’ is actually a story set to music. There are characters in it and the whole thing centers around a main character who is a modern day Celebrity and his rise & fall. It’s a morality tale involving love, death, vice, consequence and what really matters in life. There is a track by track commentary of the album on Youtube, check it out!

Q: What was the most exciting thing that happened to the band in 2015?

Wow, I don’t know where to start! 2015 was an amazing year for us – we released our latest album ‘Circle’, did a headline tour of the UK, playing at some of our favourite venues like Nottingham Rock City and London Underworld – then we did an 8 country European tour with U.S. legends ‘Snot’ during a heat wave. So it’s really hard to say what was the most exciting because it was all pretty damn exciting!

Q: What are your plans for the future? Is there a new album lined up already?

The plans for the coming year are to continue touring ‘Circle’ and then look at making another record later in the year. Already there is talk of shows in Europe, the U.S. and Japan, so I’m sure we’re going to be pretty busy!

Q: What/who inspires you the most and why?

Everyday life and everyday people because of the moral paradoxes to contend with, the unanswerable questions that life, in all of its beauty & horror, poses for us all.

Q: Is there anything you wish to add or tell your fans as well as those who will read this interview?

Yeah, sure! Please join our online pages like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube etc because we’re active on Social Media and that is the bestest way to stay up to date with our plans, movements and news! Hope to see you there!
